Park-Extension Youth Organization (PEYO)

Mission

PEYO's mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of Parc-Extension residents, particularly young people and their families, by providing access to social, cultural and sports activities and services, without discrimination towards diversity.

Services

Recreational activities

Day camps in summer and winter for children aged 5½ to 12.

Sports activities

Low-cost ice hockey development program to encourage youth to adopt healthy lifestyles and discover a sport that is very popular in Quebec.

Integration

Arts et Contes project which is a specialized preventive program aims to promote the adaptation and integration (personal, familial, school, cultural and social) of immigrant or refugee children or children born here to immigrant parents.

Support centers

X-Art room for young adults aged 16 and above : a healthy and structured living environment adapted to the needs of the people. It provides advice on returning to school, job search workshops, discussion evenings, structured leisure activities and major projects. In short, X-Art workers encourage young people to act as responsible citizens.

Community Social Pediatrics

Community social pediatrics identifies, welcomes, and supports youth aged 0 to 17 in vulnerable situations to address their overall health needs. The approach focuses on the strengths of the child, their family, and their environment. The clinical team at the Centre develops an action plan with the child to reduce or eliminate sources of stress impacting their daily life. This plan is implemented through medical, psychosocial, educational, health, and legal services, aiming to break the cycle of vulnerability and help the child reach their full potential. The PEYO Social Pediatrics Centre is open Monday to Friday at 469 Ogilvy Street.

Extracurricular and special activities to promote francization outside of school hours.
